Tantalus monkeys forage along forest edges and in grassland, and can disperse seeds from fruit they eat. A study site in Nigeria yielded seeds that remained intact in their faeces.
Its coat is grey to golden, with a creamy underside. White hair flares around the black face, and a pale band runs above the eyes.
At the Ngel Nyaki forest edge, the monkeys ate fruit, and most faecal samples collected in the study contained intact seeds. The study describes their role in carrying seeds from forest edge into grassland.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
