This tanager occurs in southeastern and eastern Brazil, in moist lowland and montane forest, second growth, and plantations.
Males have olive-green upperparts, a yellow rump, a rufous head and breast, grey underparts, and yellow at the center of the belly. Females are plainer olive above with a yellow breast.
It feeds mostly on small arthropods and also takes some fruit. Pairs, families, and small groups forage mainly in the canopy and upper forest, often in mixed-species flocks.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
