This bluish-gray shrew is recorded across central and southern Africa. The paper notes size differences among populations, whose taxonomic meaning is still unclear.
Its coat is bluish gray. The paper reports considerable size variation across its range, but says the taxonomic meaning of that variation is not settled.
It inhabits montane moist-forest edges with dense ground cover above 1,000 m, and is also recorded on tussock-grass hillsides and in pine plantations. It is mainly nocturnal, with activity peaks at dawn and dusk. In Zambia, one specimen was collected while an old cassava field was being ploughed at Hillwood Farm, and two females were live-trapped near Mutanda in the northwest.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
