A shrew from eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, marked by a dark gray back and nearly bare tail.
The back is dark gray, the underside slightly lighter, and only a few short bristles grow near the base of the nearly naked tail.
The original description records the species beside a creek in primary forest.
