This mouse has white feet and a long, two-colored tail. It is recorded in rocky mountain areas of western Texas and northwestern New Mexico.

It is recorded on rocky mountain slopes and talus. In the high Davis Mountains of Texas, it also occurs in cool, moist, shaded canyons.
