This small hummingbird is described as endemic to Colombia. It has an iridescent indigo crown, green upperparts, and pale underparts, and feeds on nectar and small insects. The source uses the older generic combination Amazilia cyanifrons.
The crown is iridescent indigo, the back green, and the underparts whitish or pale gray. The slightly forked tail has a rufous or bronze hue. The straight black bill has a reddish base on the lower mandible.
It occurs at forest edges, in secondary growth, and in gardens. It feeds on nectar, small insects, and spiders, and may defend feeding areas.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
