Curly dark-brown fur has bright golden tips extending along the legs, wings, and tail. The bat has broad wings and a large tail membrane.
It feeds mainly on spiders. It modifies the underside of bird nests to make a roost entrance, and also uses tree hollows and places beneath moss.
