This woodcreeper lives in Central American forest. Tawny flight feathers and a rufous tail stand out, and it may forage near army-ant swarms.
The upperparts are brown to olive, the throat is pale buff, the flight feathers are tawny, and the tail is cinnamon to rufous.
It occurs in humid forest, advanced secondary growth, partly open areas, and mangroves. At army-ant swarms it may act aggressively toward other birds around the feeding area.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
