This large woodcreeper occurs in Amazonia and is often found high in the forest canopy. It is also noted for tending to occur alone.
It weighs about 70 g and has a stout bill, giving it a robust appearance among woodcreepers.
Across Amazonia it is typically seen singly or in well-separated pairs. At one BDFFP study site, only five observations were made and all were at least 21 m high; elsewhere it has been reported at forest edges, in flooded forest, later-successional growth and on river islands.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
