The Choco Warbler inhabits forest and scrub in western Colombia and western Ecuador. This population responds differently to songs from the eastern Peru population and is treated as a separate species.
A yellow stripe runs down the middle of its dark crown, and a yellow-green eyebrow extends behind the eye. The back and flanks are olive, while the yellow underparts have a green wash.
In November 2022, the species was recorded in a large mixed-species flock along the Montezuma Rainforest road in Colombia, where it stayed in the understory.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
