The Tasmanian Thornbill is a small brown bird found on Tasmania and the Bass Strait islands. Its white undertail helps distinguish it from a similar thornbill.
At about 100 mm long, it is brown with gray and white streaks on the throat and breast. The white undertail separates it from the Brown Thornbill, and the sexes look alike.
It lives in rainforest, wet eucalypt forest, and wet scrub, and searches for small insects, often close to the ground. It builds a domed nest from bark, grass, and moss and lays three to four pinkish-white speckled eggs.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
