The Stripe-headed Brush-Finch (Arremon torquatus) is a brush-finch of the southern Andes and forest understory. It has a black head with a pale central stripe and eyebrow, a white throat and a black breast band. The former Stripe-headed complex was divided into several lineages; this account is restricted to A. torquatus sensu stricto.
The crown is black with a narrow pale stripe down the center. A white eyebrow extends back from the black face, the throat is white, and the white center of the underparts is bordered by gray and olive with a black breast band.
In southeastern Puno, Peru, it is described as uncommon in the understory of montane forest. This is a local field account, not a population estimate for the whole species.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
