The Altamira Yellowthroat is a warbler of wetlands in northeastern Mexico. A field study in northern Veracruz recorded it in places with cattails and other wetland plants.
The original description of an adult male notes a bright yellow band behind the black facial mask, olive-green upperparts, and yellow underparts, with a paler lemon-yellow belly.
In northern Veracruz, birds used tall herbaceous plants and shrubs. Observers recorded them foraging on cattails and flat sedges, mostly for invertebrates.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
