The African palm squirrel is a forest squirrel with a patchy range in West and Central Africa. It is recognizable by its gray back, orange to red underside, and patterned tail.
Its back is grizzled gray and its underside ranges from orange to red. The upper side of the tail has black-and-white markings and a black fringe; fine stripes underneath fade into an orange brush.
It is active by day, leaving its nest at dawn and returning before dusk. It is often seen on the ground or in forest undergrowth and is usually solitary.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
