A large long-eared bat of arid Central Asia, recorded in southwestern Kazakhstan, western Uzbekistan, and western Turkmenistan. Its dorsal fur is pale and tricolored, and a rim of bare whitish skin on the rear of the back helps distinguish it. The species account reports roosting in caves and wells and hunting moths and other insects.
Dorsal hairs are tricolored, ranging through dark gray, pale, and gray or brownish tones; ventral hairs have dark bases and whitish or gray tips. The face is white with a broad, short brown snout, and a rim of naked whitish skin on the rear back is distinctive.
It inhabits temperate desert and semi-desert. Reported roosts are caves and wells. It mainly takes medium-sized moths, along with smaller moths and some other insects, hunting in low to medium-high vegetation and sometimes gleaning prey.
