The Variable Limestone Babbler is a medium-sized bird of limestone hills. Its dark back and broad gray-brown streaks across the breast and belly are distinctive.
Its crown and back are dark brown with black scaling, and its face is grayish. Broad gray-brown streaks mark the whitish chin and underside; it also has a rather long bill and tail.
It eats insects and seeds and is usually seen in pairs or small groups of up to six. It moves among rocks and tangled vegetation and can be secretive.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
