The Saltmarsh Sparrow lives in coastal salt marshes in the United States. The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service page uses the older name Ammodramus caudacutus; this entry retains the pool's scientific name, Ammospiza caudacuta.
It has rusty wings, an orange-buff face, and black streaks on gray plumage.
In tidal salt marshes, it nests in relatively high ground that floods less often and forages in low marsh and along channel edges.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
