This parakeet occurs on Socorro Island off Mexico. It was recorded in the island forest, and a field study documented feeding on native fruits and seeds.
It is green. A past comparison cited in the AOS committee proposal describes it as darker overall and larger-billed than the related Psittacara holochlorus.
A 1992 island survey often recorded it in forest with trees about 8 m tall, especially above 500 m around Cerro Evermann. Food records included ripe fruits of Bumelia and Ilex, along with seeds and pulp.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
