The Mongolian Ground Jay lives on the ground in stony or gravelly semi-desert and often runs rather than flies when disturbed.
It has a black centre to the crown and nape, sandy upperparts and underparts, a glossy blue-black tail, and a gently down-curved black bill.
It eats insects, small lizards, seeds, and other plant material. Breeding is recorded from March to May; the nest is a twig bowl placed low in a bush.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
