The Subtropical Antechinus is a small carnivorous marsupial from southeastern Queensland to northeastern New South Wales. Insects are its usual food.
Compared with the Swainson’s Antechinus, its fur is described as more uniformly brown from head to rump.
It normally eats insects, but one observed individual at Mount Glorious was photographed taking a Noisy Pitta nestling. That single event does not establish birds as regular prey.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
