This small honeyeater occurs in New Guinea mountain forests. It takes invertebrates from the forest and the female is reported to lay one egg.
The species is about 13–15 cm long. A female collected at Mount Menawa had a pale-orange iris, a dark-grey bill with horn-coloured base and cutting edges, and grey legs.
It is associated with tropical montane forest and catches invertebrates in the forest. A Norwegian encyclopedia gives an adult mass of about 18 g and one egg in a clutch.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
