This green parakeet lives in New Caledonia's forests. This entry treats Cyanoramphus saisseti as a species, while BirdLife's taxonomy treats the New Caledonian form as a subspecies of the Red-fronted Parakeet.
Adults are bright green, with a red band across the forehead and through the eye and a red patch at the centre of the crown. The outer wing is violet-blue and the throat is yellow.
It mainly uses large rainforests and forest edges, feeding chiefly on seeds of native plants. It is difficult to see in the canopy and may also forage for seeds on the ground.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
