This blue flycatcher is endemic to Sri Lanka and occurs in the central hills and humid wet-zone. A study in Horton Plains cloud forest found nests in tree holes and road-bank cavities; beetles were the main food recorded for nestlings.
Its body is ashy blue, with a brighter blue forehead and a dark line extending from the eye.
In Horton Plains National Park's cloud forest, it nested in existing tree holes and cavities in road banks. Beetles were the main food recorded for nestlings, with spiders and hymenopterans also noted.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
