A bark-foraging woodpecker recorded in Argentina’s montane forests and forest edges in the regional account.
Adults have black-and-white barring on the back. The regional account distinguishes a red nape in males from a black crown and nape in females.
The Argentina account says it pecks at decayed bark while foraging and is seen alone or in pairs.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
