This laughingthrush occurs in northern mainland Southeast Asia. It uses evergreen forest understory and bamboo, and searches for food near the ground in pairs or small groups.
It is greyish olive with a chestnut-orange crown. Green-gold panels show on the wings and sides of the tail; there are black spots on the upper mantle, scale-like markings on the breast, and dark lores and throat.
It uses evergreen forest understory and bamboo, as well as mixed forest, secondary growth, and rhododendron scrub. It eats insects, berries, seeds, and other plant matter, foraging on or close to the ground in pairs or small groups.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
