Williamson's Sapsucker is a woodpecker of western North American mountains. Males and females look very different, and the birds eat conifer sap and insects.
Males are black with a red throat, yellow belly, and white wing patches. Females have a brown head and barred back and look very different.
It drills rows of shallow holes in conifers and drinks the sap. After chicks hatch, it also feeds heavily on ants, beetles, and other insects.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
