The black dorcopsis is a forest wallaby from New Guinea and Goodenough Island. It eats soft leaves, roots, grasses, and fruit.
Its dorsal fur is blackish and its underside dark brown. It has a broad, bare nose, small rounded ears, and a hairless terminal half of the tail.
It inhabits moist lowland and montane rain forest and some grassland, feeding on soft vegetation. It is presumed nocturnal, though daytime movements in forest have also been reported.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
