This lemur lives in eastern Madagascar. In a rainy-season study at Maromizaha, the observed Hapalemur griseus griseus often ate young bamboo growth and used the lower forest layer.
Its coat is grayish russet, sometimes with a green tint.
During rainy-season observations in Maromizaha forest, bamboo made up most of the recorded diet. The lemurs selected young shoots, leaf bases, and young leaves.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
