A small, reddish rail recorded in montane forests of northern New Guinea. It is rarely seen, and many details of its ecology remain poorly known.
Its plumage is reddish, and females have pale buff spots on the wings.
It lives near the forest floor in montane forest and is reported to prefer running to flying. Few records are available, so its ecology is not well understood.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
