This rail searches the forest floor for invertebrates in the highlands of New Guinea.
It is a small rail, 18–23 cm long and weighing 66–81 g.
It is active by day and feeds on invertebrates on the ground. It builds a globe- or dome-shaped nest from leaves, moss, and ferns, and both sexes incubate the egg.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
