Endemic to Philippine islands, this flycatcher inhabits the shaded understory of humid evergreen forest and keeps out of sight.
It is about 12 cm long. The male is slate gray on the head, back, and tail with a white belly; the female is browner.
It is nonmigratory, and breeding pairs defend territories. From low perches it searches for flying insects and builds a cup-shaped nest.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
