This small flycatcher is known only from the Lompobattang massif in South Sulawesi, Indonesia. It feeds for insects in the dense, shaded lower forest.
The male has an olive back and deep chestnut tail. A pale ochre patch runs from the bill base over the lores toward the eye; the chin, throat, and breast are also pale ochre, while the belly and undertail are white. The female is similar but has a much paler chin, throat, and breast.
It has been recorded in dense, heavily shaded undergrowth of montane rainforest. It makes short movements near the ground and gleans insects from leaves and woody surfaces.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
