This small owl is described in a regional account for northwestern Patagonia, Argentina. It is brown to reddish, with a pale underside marked by heavy brown streaks.
It ranges from brown to reddish and has yellow irises. Eye-like markings sit on the nape, and its relatively long tail has dark bars.
It is usually solitary and active by day or night. The regional account says it is easier to see by day in winter; it hunts birds, insects, and lizards and nests in tree cavities.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
