This small owl has a rounded head without ear tufts, brown plumage, and yellow eyes. It lives in forests in eastern Brazil.
The face is pale brown around the edges and the eyes are yellow. Eye-like markings sit on the back of the head, while pale spots mark the wings and tail.
It feeds mainly on insects but also catches small vertebrates. It can be active by day, though it is busiest at dawn and dusk.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
