The Baja Pygmy Owl is a small owl of southern Baja California, Mexico. Its yellow eyes and eye-like markings on the back of its head stand out.
It has a round head without ear tufts, yellow eyes, and white eyebrows. Two dark patches on the nape look like eyes; the sandy gray-brown body is pale-mottled and streaked below.
It uses pine and pine-oak forest and may move into lower deciduous forest in winter. Its prey includes insects and other arthropods as well as small vertebrates.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
