The Samoan Fantail is a small bird described with dusky plumage, a pale throat, and white feathers under the tail. Its life account here is limited to an 1848 observation in Samoa.
Peale's original account describes dusky, smoky plumage that is paler below, whitish areas at the throat and ear, white undertail coverts, and white shafts or tips on the tail feathers.
Peale recorded a bird approaching people and moving from branch to branch in low undergrowth with its tail spread. In the same account, he did not observe the familiar insect-catching flights of a flycatcher.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
