The Grey-headed Imperial Pigeon is endemic to Sulawesi, where it lives in hill and montane forest. Its grey head and purplish hindneck stand out.
The head and underparts are grey, the hindneck has a purple sheen, and the undertail is chestnut. The male is described as more purplish than the female.
Flocks have been reported feeding in the forest understory, but the food is unknown. Nests are known from cliff ledges and hollows; one nest in a tree hole was observed at Lore Lindu.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
