The common dunnart is a small marsupial of eastern and southern Australia. It searches for insects at night and rests in a nest or shallow burrow by day.
Its fur is light brown to gray, darker on the head and neck, and paler underneath and on the feet. It has large rounded ears and a thin tail almost as long as its body.
It is a nocturnal insectivore, eating beetles, cricket larvae, cockroaches, and spiders. By day it sleeps in a covered nest or shallow burrow and can enter temporary torpor in unfavorable conditions.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
