Roig's Tuco-tuco is a burrowing rodent known from a very small area along the Paraná River in northeastern Argentina. It lives alone in separate burrow systems and gathers plant material underground.
The back is brown to tawny, the flanks clay-colored, and a dark line runs from the nose toward the neck. The underside is cinnamon-colored.
Individuals live alone in separate but closely adjacent burrow systems. From inside their burrows they gather tubers, roots, and grass stems, sometimes pulling whole plants into their tunnels.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
