Hodgson’s giant flying squirrel has variable coat colors and dorsal markings. A Nepal assessment records it in the country’s northern mountain forests.
The body, neck, and head may be deep maroon with a yellow mid-dorsal line beginning at a broad forehead spot. Another phase lacks the line and is chestnut above; the rufous tail has a black tip.
The Nepal assessment reports this squirrel from subtropical montane forest and oak-rhododendron forest.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
