This bat was recorded in the Chocó region of southwestern Colombia and northwestern Ecuador. Specimens in the original paper came from more than one setting where forest remained.
Its back is chestnut brown, the hairs show two brown tones, and the ears are short and rounded.
Known specimens were captured in humid secondary forest at Alto Tambo, Ecuador, and in selectively logged but uncleared vegetation at La Guarapería, Colombia. These are capture settings, not proof of habitat preference or exclusive habitat.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
