The northern bettong is a nocturnal marsupial of northeastern Queensland forests. It feeds heavily on underground fungi in the wet season and also uses grass tubers in drier periods.
Its fur is light gray with a cream-colored underside. It has long hind legs, digging claws, and short, rounded ears.
It forages at night and rests in burrows it digs or beneath boulders. Underground fungi are an important wet-season food; when they are scarce, it also eats grass tubers, roots, seeds, and soil invertebrates.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
