This small bat has shiny golden fur on its back. HMW 9 reports it in plantations and mixed forest in Taiwan, and separately records captures over streams in Vietnam. It notes limited genetic data leave the validity of Harpiola uncertain.
The long, woolly dorsal fur is shiny golden yellow and the underside is browner. The last tail vertebra extends beyond the uropatagium.
In Taiwan it is recorded in conifer plantations or mixed forests; in Vietnam it was captured over streams in deciduous moss forest. Foraging over stream backwaters and shallows is also reported.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
