This tenrec is recorded in western to southwestern Madagascar. Specimens were collected in dry deciduous forest on limestone and other settings. Coat color was described from only a small number of study skins.
In study skins, the soft dorsal fur mixed dark and lighter brown, while the underside was uniformly medium gray. The tail was about 30% of total length. The color description is based on few specimens.
The paper records specimens in dry deciduous forest on limestone, a dry-forest/spiny-bush transition, and gallery forest surrounded by spiny bush. All specimens were caught in pitfall traps, and natural-history information remains limited.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
