The common thick-thumbed bat uses bamboo stems and rock crevices as footholds and roost sites. It lives in forest with abundant bamboo and eats insects.
Its dorsal and ventral fur is unbanded reddish yellow. The rounded ears and face are dark brown, and the thumbs and foot pads are thick.
It eats insects and roosts in dead or damaged bamboo, rock crevices, and banana leaves. A group of twelve was recorded in bamboo in Brunei.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
