A small flowerpecker recorded from Philippine islands. The aeruginosum form is olive green above, with a whitish breast and belly heavily streaked brown. A 1992 account reported no recent records on Cebu and considered the island birds restricted to mature forest.
The Philippine form described by Mann as D. a. aeruginosum has olive-green back, rump and uppertail coverts. Its underparts are whitish and heavily streaked brown, especially on the breast; the outer tail feathers have faint whitish patches underneath, and the bill is stout.
A paper reporting field work on Cebu in 1992 said the Striped Flowerpecker had not been recorded there recently and appeared restricted to mature forest; the authors considered that island population possibly extinct.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
