This small tyrant flycatcher ranges from the Guianas into northern Brazil. It has an olive body, gray face, pale-yellow belly, and a wide-based bill.
The sexes have the same plumage. Adults have a dull olive crown, nape, back, and rump, a pale gray face, a grayish-white throat, and pale-yellow breast and belly. The broad-based bill and reddish-brown iris are distinctive details.
At a study site north of Manaus, birds foraged in dense subcanopy tangles about 10–20 m above ground, searching leaf clusters for insects. They made short upward strikes at prey on branches or leaves and occasionally hawked flushed or flying insects.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
