Symposiachrus bimaculatus is a monarch of the Moluccan Islands. The 2024 Clements treatment separates it from the Australian Spectacled Monarch and recognizes three subspecies. On Obi and Bisa, observations of the diadematus subspecies place it in secondary growth and forest edge, often in mixed-species flocks.
The historical description of the nominate form notes a small black bill and white tips on the two outer tail feathers.
On Obi and Bisa, the diadematus subspecies was recorded from 260–1,030 m, with all but one observation above 700 m. It used secondary growth and forest edge and was usually with mixed-species flocks.
In the Obi subspecies diadematus, the forehead band in both sexes is reported to vary from white to rufous.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
