This sportive lemur was described from the Manombo Special Reserve area of southeastern Madagascar. Its description records a pale face-and-throat patch and lowland coastal rainforest habitat.
Its fur is mostly brown, with a whitish-gray area from the jaw across the throat. The head is brown and a black line runs along the middle of the back.
The original account records the species in remaining low-altitude coastal rainforest in the Manombo region.
