This seabird breeds on Henderson Island in the South Pacific. It is grey-brown and paler below; a study placed nests on the island's interior plateau and tracked a breeding bird far out to sea.
The assessment describes a medium-sized petrel about 36 cm long, mostly grey-brown and somewhat paler below, with a pale underwing edge, black bill, pink legs, and dark toes.
Nests are on Henderson Island's inland plateau. One bird tracked during the 2015 study travelled north for 14 days and reached waters up to about 1,637 km from its nest.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
